how you can help your child at home
- Read everyday!
- Read aloud to your child in both Thai and English, even if he or she is already an independent reader.
- Ask your child questions about what he or she read to ensure they are actually understanding what they read.
- Ask your child to retell a story that he or she read independently.
- Support them in trying to figure out tricky words before just telling them what it says.
- Encourage them to ask what new words mean.
- Encourage them to read a variety of books - some that are at their level as well as some that may be challenging, but are of interest to them.
